Richard Betsalel
Managing Director
Richard has over 25 years of investment banking experience. Since joining Crosbie over 20 years ago, he has focused extensively on advising founder-led businesses and their owners on transformational M&A, capital raising, and strategic transactions across various industries. Richard has also developed a deep track record of advising Indigenous groups and their economic development arms on a variety of strategic and financial issues, including power project investments, capital raising, M&A and strategic partnerships.
Prior to Crosbie, he was an investment banker with Yorkton Securities (now Macquarie Capital Canada) focused on raising equity capital for public companies in the technology and growth industrial sectors.
Richard holds a B.Sc. from McMaster University and an MBA from the Schulich School of Business.

Ian Macdonell
Managing Director
Ian has over 30 years of investment banking experience. Since joining Crosbie in 1999, he has been responsible for leading M&A, financing and other financial advisory mandates across various industries with a particular focus on owner-managed private companies. Ian has also advised several Indigenous groups and their economic development arms on a variety of strategic and financial issues, including infrastructure project investments and managing funds received from claims settlements.
Prior to Crosbie, he was an investment banker with RBC Capital Markets and CIBC World Markets, focusing on domestic and cross-border M&A and public equity and debt underwriting.
Ian holds a B. Chem. Eng. from Queen’s University and an MBA from Ivey School of Business.

Sadat Mirza
Managing Director
Sadat has over 15 years of global investment banking experience advising business owners, entrepreneurs, private equity firms, public companies and boards on strategic M&A and capital raising transactions.
Prior to Crosbie, he was an investment banker with J.P. Morgan, Lazard and National Bank Financial advising clients on domestic and cross-border transactions across North America, Europe and other international markets. His experience includes sell-side M&A, corporate carve-outs, strategic reviews, acquisitions, shareholder advisory and capital markets transactions across technology, healthcare and industrial sectors.

Stephen Ng
Managing Director
Stephen has over 25 years of global investment banking, principal investing and operating experience. He has focused extensively on advising founder-led businesses, private and institutional investors, and large corporates on transformational M&A, capital raising, and strategic transactions across various sectors.
Prior to Crosbie, he was an investment banker with Credit Suisse, Lehman Brothers and CIBC World Markets. In addition, he was a private equity investor at Richardson Capital and an entrepreneur with a healthcare start-up, giving him practical perspectives on the opportunities and challenges facing business builders.
Stephen holds a BCom from Queen’s University and an MBA from Ivey Business School.

Colin Walker
Managing Director
Colin has over 35 years of investment banking experience. Since joining Crosbie over 30 years ago, he has focused extensively on advising the owners of private companies on their M&A strategies, financing matters, and other strategic transactions across a wide range of industries. In his early period with Crosbie, Colin was also deeply involved in principal investing and restructuring work. Colin has been a director of a number of public and private companies, and is a past director of the Turnaround Management Association’s Toronto Chapter.
Prior to Crosbie, he began his career as a banker with UBS Canada where he focused on lending and debt capital markets transactions.
Colin holds a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering & Mgmt and an MBA, each from McMaster University.

Rieshdah Gabier
Director, Business Development
Rieshdah has nearly 20 years of experience across financial services, asset management, and private markets, with a career focused on driving wealth creation for individuals and business owners.
Prior to joining Crosbie, Rieshdah spent most of her financial services career at Ninety One Asset Management, a global asset management firm, managing relationships with independent financial advisors and investment committees. After relocating to Canada, she led marketing and business development initiatives at a boutique hedge fund before transitioning into private M&A. Before her career in financial services, she spent 10 years in film and advertising, building a strong foundation in communications, marketing, and client engagement.
Rieshdah holds a BCom degree specializing in Law from the University of South Africa.

Vice President
Michael has over 12 years of investment banking experience. Since joining Crosbie over 10 years ago, he has focused on advising business owners, entrepreneurs, public companies and boards on M&A transactions across various industries. Michael has been involved in a variety of transactions, including acquisitions, divestitures, and financings, as well as advisory mandates for the board of directors, shareholders and other stakeholder groups.

Alex Holmes
Vice President
Alex has over 7 years of investment banking and consulting experience. Since joining Crosbie in 2021, he has focused on advising entrepreneurs, shareholder groups, and corporations on M&A and strategic advisory mandates across various industries, with a strong track record across infrastructure services, specialty distribution, and specialty manufacturing. Alex has advised clients on sale transactions with global private equity firms, family office investment platforms, privately held trade buyers, and large publicly traded companies.
Alex is a CFA charterholder and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from the Lazaridis School of Business & Economics at Wilfrid Laurier University, where he graduated with distinction.

Devon Walters
Associate
Devon joined Crosbie in 2023 and has over five years of combined investment banking and private equity experience. He is involved in advising business owners, entrepreneurs, public companies, corporate boards and investors on M&A and strategic advisory mandates across various industries.
Prior to Crosbie, Devon was an analyst at Argosy Partners, a mid-market private equity firm, where he evaluated investment opportunities, conducted due diligence, and supported portfolio companies.
Devon holds a Bachelor of Management and Organizational Studies degree from The University of Western Ontario, with a specialization in Finance, and is a CFA charterholder.

Josh Dion
Analyst
Josh has over 3 years of experience across investment banking, private equity, and public markets. Since joining Crosbie in 2024, he has been involved in advising business owners, entrepreneurs, board of directors, and investors on M&A, financings, and strategic advisory mandates across various industries. Josh also currently serves as an Infantry Officer (Captain) in the Canadian Armed Forces Primary Reserve.
Prior to Crosbie, Josh held investment analyst internships at Reddick Wellington Investments, FAX Capital, and Waratah Capital Advisors, where he developed a broad foundation in analyzing public and private companies.

Lorena Deti
Financial Controller & Office Manager
Lorena joined Crosbie in 2021 with over 17 years of experience in office administration and accounting gained across diverse industries.
She is responsible for overseeing financial reporting, internal controls, as well as managing day-to-day office operations and partners closely with senior leadership to support regulatory compliance and operational efficiency.
Lorena has a BA in Economics from York University and has completed the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) and Conduct and Practices Handbook (CPH).

Dina Sutera
Senior Executive Assistant
Dina brings more than 25 years of administrative experience and has been a member of the Crosbie team since joining the firm in 1998.
Before joining Crosbie, she provided senior-level support to C-suite executives across a range of industries. Her previous roles included serving as Senior Executive Assistant to a Group Publisher at Maclean Hunter Business Publishing and as Executive Assistant to the CEO of SimVest Solutions, an educational technology company specializing in online investment and stock trading simulation platforms.
